Good news for all Netflix and in particular Sacred Games fans. The series that took the country by storm, gave us characters to root for, from Inspector Sartaj Singh (played by Saif Ali Khan) to gangster Gaitonde (played to chilling effect by Nawazuddin Siddiqui) and the trans-gender Cuckoo (new star on the block, Kubbra Sait) is back for the second season. And it looks bigger, better and super exciting.

The eight-episode first season was hugely appreciated and fans couldn’t wait for the second one. Now, in a recently released clip, Netflix has announced the second season will be launched real soon with an all new starcast joining the main cast. The promo, that was released on social media, shows some new stars joining the list including Kalki Koechlin, Ranveer Shorey and Pankaj Tripathi. Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui reprise their roles. The background score is the same haunting tone that netizens have come to love but the characters and setting appear to be quite new especially with Pankaj Tripathi’s avatar as a godman. He had earlier played a small role in the first part and this side will be explored further. The Indian Express reports that Kalki will be playing a character called Batya while Ranvir will be playing Shahid Khan.

Sacred Games is based on author Vikram Chandra’s book about the underbelly of Mumbai. The series was directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. The second season will also be helmed by two directors. Saif Ali Khan’s track will be directed by Neeraj Ghaywan who had earlier made Masaan while Nawazuddin’s track will be made by Anurag.

Here is the teaser that was released today.
