Pakistani superstar Saba Qamar might have not starred in many films, but she is still a force to be reckoned with. The actress started her career through TV and starred in one of the most popular shows of the country, Dastaan – which was based on the 1947 Partition. She also hosted a political satire show called Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain and made her silver screen debut in 2013’s Aina. Later, she also worked in Manto and Lahore Se Aagay, establishing herself as a film actress as well. Soon after, she received an offer from Bollywood and starred in 2017’s hit film Hindi Medium opposite Irrfan Khan.
However, it is only now that the actress has just signed her next film. Taking to Instagram, Saba made the announcement in a very subtle fashion wherein she only captioned the photo, “Kamli,” referencing to her next film. The photo shows Saba underwater wearing a white, cotton gown and Khoosat films logo on the side, which suggests that filmmaker Sarmad Khoosat will be helming the project. The actress also shared more photos of the same shoot on her Instagram story, however, no other details of the film have been revealed by Saba or Sarmad.
Prior to signing Kamli, Saba was a part of two high-rated TV shows. The actress played Kanwal Baloch in Baaghi – which was loosely based on the late social media sensation, Qandeel Baloch. The TV serial was loved by many and Saba also earned a Best Actress Lux Style Award last year for her role. Later, she also starred as Mannat in Cheekh opposite Aijaaz Aslam, Bilal Abbas Khan, Emmad Irfani and Azekah Daniel. Her last film, Hindi Medium – which was based on the flawed education system, was a huge success worldwide and earned her critical acclaim. There were reports that the actress would be reprising her role in Hindi Medium 2 but it has been confirmed that she will be replaced by Kareena Kapoor Khan.
