Saaho: Prabhas’ Fans Dismiss Online Reviews of the New Blockbuster Film

Prabhas’ Saaho has received many negative reviews from critics and on social media, despite its massive success at the box office

Saaho has been breaking many records at the box office, since its release on Friday, 30th August 2019. The film, starring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, was released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malyalam, and seems to have found an appreciative audience across India and around the globe. Despite its apparent box office success, the film has been receiving low ratings and poor reviews from several film critics and many viewers on social media, who have ripped it apart for its story, plot, acting, etc., calling it a “let down” and a highly average movie without substance.

However, Prabhas and the film’s fans have also been actively defending the superhit film, as they believe it is being unfairly targeted. Here’s how some Saaho fans defended the film on Twitter:

SleepyOwl (@Nav_tweets) advised people to lower their expectations and just enjoy the movie for what it offers, “#Saaho is definitely worth one time watch movie, if u keep aside high expectations & ignore -ve reviews. Good action sequences, nice camera angle shots, best background music & superlative performance by actors... Go to theatre to experience!”

Reddy Mani (@reddymani777) -- responding to a one-word review by film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who had called the movie “unbearable” -- said, “I don't know what scenes make u unbearable, may be u left the movie before it starts or u wantadly spread negativity among the audience.”

The HFT Prods (@thehftprods) gave it a 4-star rating and wrote, “#Saaho: UNBELIEVABLE A gain of big money and opportunity... Strong story, enlightening screenplay and awesome direction.”

It's totally a propaganda of haters who is afraid of #Prabhas sir's super stardom ** Collection of movie is increasing day by day. Reason is simple movie is fabulous.”

Manoj Kuntumalla (@manoj_mkk) blamed the negativity on lack of understanding, “People who loved the movie are the ones who understand it was Game Plan of Saaho from Beginning till End credits... Critics and Negative Reviewers : Unbearable and their is nothing in the Movie... #Saaho: Cause you don't understand my Game Plan. Watch it again”

Bb (@Bad_Boy_BB) was positive about Hindi and regional cinema collaborations after watching Saaho “Thanks #Baahubali, #KGF, #2Point0 & #Uri, #Saaho for breaking South North Boundaries. Our potential as Nation with all region talents is simply HUGE! Now India is ready for #Mahabharatverse Director Rajamouli, Mahesh as Arjun, Hrithik as Krishna, Prabhas as Karan, Amitabh as Bheesm.”

Saaho, written and directed by Sujeeth, is a stylish action film based in a fictional place called Waaji City. It has been touted as the second most expensive film ever made in India, made with a humongous budget of INR 350 crore. The makers roped in international action directors and crew to create impressive stunts and graphics. It was shot in India, the United Arab Emirates, Romania and Austria, with the help of IMAX cameras.
