It seems like the winds of change have finally made their way to Bollywood – and not just in terms of content, but also social awareness – or at least more of it now. Many celebrities have come out to protest against the CAA bill which discriminated Muslims amongst the other minorities in India. And while there have been many cases of rape and murder in the past, now, Housefull star Riteish Deshmukh has come out to call for justice for a girl who was raped and killed in India – and he’s asking people not to discriminate on the basis of race or religion.

In a Twitter post, the actor shared, “A 19 year old was kidnapped, gang raped, murdered and hanged on a tree. Forget what religion she belonged to, forget what caste she belonged to, just remember she was a young girl with an entire life of hope and aspirations ahead of her. Hang the culprits publicly.” The post has been getting a lot of traction ever since. Many came out in support of the actor and Kajal. One wrote, “Why people are so cruel? They are heartless devils. They haven’t right to live in the society, kill them.”

Another added, “Heartily thankful to you. Only you noticed this, all the others and the government, including other celebrities do not support this matter, only because she was a Dalit.”

According to FilmiBeat, a 19 year-old Dalit girl was allegedly kidnapped, gang raped and murdered before her body was hanged from a tree to make it look like a suicide. Reports also suggest that she had gone missing on December 31, 2019, after which her family had approached the police to lodge a FIR -  which they refused. Local police inspector NL Rabari told the family that the girl was safe and had eloped with a boy of the same community and had married. The girl's body was found hanging on a tree on January 5.
