Rihanna’s New Fashion Line Debuts In Paris
After launching her makeup brand, Rihanna follows up with her fashion line
Superstar Robyn Rihanna Fenty AKA Rihanna, a Barbados native, has just launched Fenty, a luxury fashion label in Paris, becoming the first woman of colour to create her own brand with French multinational Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH).
Rihanna is not new to the world of fashion as she has previously created clothing collections for British high street fashion brand River Island and is the brand ambassador/creative director of athletic brand Puma. She has also done modelling for Emporio Armani, Gucci and Balmain.
The 31-year old musician has been rapidly building her empire through music, design collaborations and her two existing business ventures: Fenty Beauty for cosmetic brands, launched in 2017, and Savage X Fenty for lingerie, rolled out in 2018. Her beauty brand has successfully generated revenue in millions since its launch.
Fenty has debuted at a pop-up boutique in Paris and will be available online very soon. It joins leading luxury fashion brands Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Fendi and Dior under the LVMH umbrella.
“Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr Arnault [LVMH Chairman and Chief Executive] has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together,” Rihanna shared in a statement.
Rihanna has described her new brand as non-traditional and mentioned that there will be no runway show for it. Her customers will not need to wait for months to buy what they see on a fashion runway, as is typically the case.
Targeting the modern woman, Fenty will produce clothing, shoes and accessories and will mainly be an ecommerce business.
