Bollywood loves following a success formula. If one genre is a hit, then you a number of filmmakers announcing films in the same genre. Now, after a spate of patriotic films and biopics, it looks like horror comedy has got the fancy of our stars. Following the success of Golmaal 4 and Stree, at least five more horror comedies are in the offing.
Only two among the five have been announced and the list includes a sequel of Stree and another one that stars Jahnavi Kapoor. Rajkummar Rao is common among both the films.
Sources have confirmed that Stree 2 will have exactly the same actors who were there along with Rajkummar Rao in the first film. Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Flora Saini will all have prominent roles to play and the comedy will unfold in a different village.
As per the source, Shraddha Kapoor (revealed as a sorceress in the first film) will visit a different village and the team from the first village including the ghost (Flora Saini) will go there to stop her from killing another ghost. The story might have a twist this time as Shraddha Kapoor is all set to don the role of a villain in part 2. In part 1, she was the saviour.
The film starts shooting towards the end of this year after the storyboarding is over. Meanwhile, Rao is set to star in another horror-comedy, Rooh-Afza, backed by Vijan's Maddock Films banner.
The film, which also features Janhvi Kapoor, will revolve around a singing ghost who puts grooms to sleep so it can possess their brides. The scripting of the film is over and the casting is being done now.
Three more films will be announced soon in the next two-three months.
