Restaurant Review: Tasca
Tasca

WHERE: Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai
WHAT: Portuguese
Must-Try: Blue Lobster and Prawn Rice

Impressions:

This place has got it all – the vibe, the verve and the views. Tasca, one of the hottest new restaurants to launch in the last few months, has already become a favourite among the jet-set and it’s easy to see why. Offering scintillating views of the sea on one side and the Burj Khalifa on the other, this Portuguese dining destination has everything you need for a lively night out.

With acclaimed Michelin-starred Portuguese chef José Avillez at the helm, the menu is a delight with a range of traditional classics with a contemporary twist. The recommendations include grilled scarlet shrimp with Tasca sauce and yuzu mayonnaise, blue lobster and prawn rice, cured and marinated seabass, piri piri chicken and the like. Seafood takes priority though the meats are equally good – especially when paired with robust Portuguese grape and some tempting cocktails.

There are live demonstrations at both, the bar and the kitchen and if that’s not enough, you can take advantage of the spectacular outdoor seating complete with an infinity pool overlooking the Gulf.
