Speaking about the film at its launch in 2017, Ranveer Singh had said, “I was born at the time when cricket was big time. When Kabir Sahab (director Kabir Khan) had come to me and said that there will be a film on 83, I was like finally. And when he was narrating it to me, I was like woooh. It is not a story just about cricket but a human story.”
On playing Kapil Dev’s role, he had revealed he was nervous but honoured to be part of “the biggest story”. Kapil, who was also present at the event, had said it had been challenging to handle the 1983 squad. According to reports, Ranveer spent some time with the cricketer in order to portray his character on screen.
