Ranveer also shared a fun boomerang in which Deepika is seen playfully hitting Ranveer with a cricket bat and he captioned it, “Story of my life, Real & Reel.”

While news of Deepika Padukone playing Ranveer Singh’s wife in Kabir Khan’s directorial venture, 83, has been previously confirmed; this is the first time Ranveer has made the announcement. This will be the first time after marriage that Ranveer and Deepika will be sharing screen space.

In a recent interview with Times Of India, Deepika, who is also co-producing the film, said that even if the role of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev was being played by someone other than Ranveer, she would still play his wife, Romi Bhatia.

"The personal equation doesn’t spill over into the workspace. I can’t think of anyone else who could do justice to the role of Kapil Dev, but if there was someone else playing him in the film, and not Ranveer, I would still do my part," she said, adding that, "This isn’t coming from a personal equation, but from my passion and enthusiasm for the film.”

83 is all set to take audiences on the journey of India’s first ever cricket world cup victory in 1983. The Kabir Khan film is touted to be one of the biggest sports movies of all times with an impressive ensemble cast. The film is slated for release in April 2020.
