The film tells the story of the rise of a hip hop artist, Murad Sheikh (Ranveer Singh), who has to deal with poverty, familial crises and many other challenges in order to fulfil his dream of being a hip-hopper. Written by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar with dialogues from Vijay Maurya, the film is a treat to watch and it is getting the well-deserved acclaim.
The latest nod in the series of appreciation and acclaim is from none other than Will Smith, actor and rapper, who took to his Instagram stories to laud Ranveer Singh in Gully Boy.
“Yo, Ranveer, congrats, man. I am loving what you are doing. Gully Boy! I have seen old school hip hop, I have seen hip hop all over the world. I am loving it. Go get it,” said Will Smith, smiling in the video.
Ranveer Singh responded graciously as he added, “Shoutout from the original rapper/actor – Big Willie! Respect!”
“Salam bade bhai. Boht hard!” Ranveer added.
Singh and Smith (not a bad name for an upcoming joint venture starring the best of the business!) posed together during Will Smith’s last tour of India and seemed to be in high spirits.
