When it comes to the cricket field, it’s a known fact that India and Pakistan are arch-enemies. And like every other time, celebrities from both sides of the border were gathered at the Old Trafford Stadium on Sunday, to witness the clash between the two countries. Amongst the stars, there was Saif Ali Khan, Mawra Hocane, Momina Mustehsan, Bilal Saeed along with Anushka Sharma of course. Even Ranveer Singh was present at the stadium, who was also seen in the commentary box along with cricketing legends Sunil Gavaskar, Ramiz Raja, Brian Lara, Harbhajan Singh, Wasim Akram and Virendra Sehwag.
The Bollywood star made his commentary debut at the India-Pakistan match, sitting alongside Sunil. Speaking of his feeling on being in the commentary box, Ranveer said, “It’s raining legends; and for me, it’s like dream come true sitting next to Virender Sehwag – we are chatting and commentating. The India-Pakistan match is happening; on one side I see Sachin Tendulkar and the other side I see Brian Lara, Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram – it’s a great feeling.” He also impressed the crowd with the knowledge of the sport, but that’s not all that he did. Ranveer and Sunil were also seen grooving to Shammi Kapoor’s hit song, Badan Pe Sitare from the 1969 film, Prince, which started making rounds of the internet. Don’t believe it? Watch it for yourself!
Early in the video, their moves are a little hesitant as Sunil is seen trying to imitate Shammi’s steps. But soon after, they go all out and end their dance with a huge round of laughter. Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was also present in the commentary box while the two were spotted shaking a leg. Harbhajan, who recently launched his YouTube channel called Turbantor - had posted the video online.
On the work front, Ranveer is currently training with former cricketers, Mohinder Amarnath and Kapil Dev for a film based on the 1983 which India had won. He will be seen essaying the role of Kapil, while Deepika Padukone, his wife, will be playing the role of Kapil’s wife in the film. She will also be co-producing it along with Sajid Nadiadwala and Madhu Mantena. Titled ’83, the film will also star Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem and Vijay Varma in titular roles. Pankaj Tripathi will also make an appearance in ’83 as team manager Man Singh. The film is slated to hit screens on April 10, 2020.
