Fans can hardly wait to see Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone on screen together for the first time since they tied the knot. The film is all set to narrate the story of legendary Cricket stalwart Kapil Dev who led the Indian team to victory in the 1983 World Cup. Ranveer Singh has taken to social media to share his first look from the film and has stepped into the role perfectly, so much so that he completely matches up to the appearance of Kapil Dev.
In a recent interview with a leading daily, Kabir Khan has opened up about the film and revealed how he recreated the legendary tale in the history of Indian Cricket on camera and has on many occasions lauded the performances of both Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. He revealed in the interview how Ranveer Singh broke down with compassion on the sets of the film and called out “cut” after filming the closing scene. The director was all praise for Ranveer Singh for his effort and said that the actor lives his roles in every film he does.
Be it the physical appearance or nuances, Ranveer aces the character he plays. Ranveer bore such uncanny resemblance to the iconic Kapil Dev that even the cricketer's daughter Amiya Dev, who joined the film as the assistant director, found it eerie.
Further, Kabir Khan revealed in his conversation with the daily that the team of '83 shot for five days at the Lord’s stadium in London. They ventured into the dressing rooms and the locker room and also stepped out on the balcony where the World Cup was presented to the man of the match, Kapil Dev. He went on to disclose that they brought the real World Cup for Ranveer Singh to get him all the feels and an overwhelmed Ranveer broke into tears after his last shot.
