Ranbir Kapoor who has had a poor run at the box office of late has all reasons to smile. His latest release Sanju has smashed all records and has crossed the INR 300 crore mark. The total collection of the film is 310 crore according to Boxoffice India.
Trade pundits say the film might end with a lifetime collection of Rs 340 crore nett which would take it past the highest grossing film of the year so far, Padmavaat. The other factor that goes in favour of Sanju is that released in a non-festive period. Traditionally, festive releases like during Eid or Christmas see the maximum collections.
The other release, Diljit Dosanjh’s Soorma has failed to make an impact despite positive reviews. It grossed over Rs 13.2 crore over the weekend it was not enough to make a dent in Sanju’s collections.
Sanju, a bio-pic on Sanjay Dutt has garnered mixed reviews from critics who applauded its entertainment value but pointed out that it was a biased and one-sided version of the controversial star's life.
