Ranbir Kapoor's Birthday : Here Are Some Of The Actor's Best Performances
As Ranbir Kapoor celebrates his 37th birthday today, here is a look back to some of his best performances to date
Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is one of the finest actors in the industry. He starred his career with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya and since then, has come a long way. Whether it's her professional life and the talk of some of his films not doing well, to his personal life which revolves around his relationships, the actor has always been the talk of the town. Regardless, he has not let anything come in between him and his choice of films. The actor was last seen in 2018's Sanju and has also wrapped up filming of his next film, Brahmastra in which he is starring opposite girlfriend, Alia Bhatt. And as he celebrates his 37th birthday today, here's a list of some of his best performances till date:
1. Wake Up Sid
Released in 2009, Wake Up Sid showed Ranbir playing the male lead, Sid, who is a spoiled brat, unable to join his father in the family business or even land a job on his own. It follows the character's self-discovery as he moves out of his parents' house and finds a woman who helps him realise his worth and all that he is capable of.
Rockstar saw Ranbir as the famous, heartbroken musician, JJ - also known as Janardhan Jakhar. The story shows passionate about music but unable to make it big, until he meets Heer, essayed by Nargis Fakhri. When he falls in love with her and later, gets his heartbroken, it is only then that he becomes a big-shot musician. Rockstar shows Ranbir's character evolve from an innocent young boy to a rebellious musician.
Starring alongside one of his ex-girlfriends, Deepika Padukone, Tamasha is one of the most underrated films of Ranbir. Ranbir's character in the film, Ved is someone who has lost his edge in trying to follow what's socially acceptable. As Deepika's character, Tara, enters his life, he gets confused and goes back to his old routine. But later realises that he needs to find himself and then sets out on a journey of self-discovery.
One of Ranbir's best performances to date was in Barfi! in which he starred opposite Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz. Using no words, only expressions and hand gestures, Ranbir played a small town, mute boy who goes about minding his own business and eventually falls in love. However, due to his inability to speak, he gets rejected by the love of his life and then stumbles upon Jhilmil - an autistic girl and Barfi's childhood friend, essayed by Priyanka.
In 2018's Sanju, Ranbir donned many different avatars following the journey of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, as the film revolved around the actor's different phases in life. From looks to body language, Ranbir had to make sure that he perfectly depicted Sanjay on screen, which he surely did.
