Early in 2017, the infamous producer Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed a third installment of the Don franchise is cooking up in the kitchen. This was followed by a report that yet again, Farhan Akhtar was working on the script of the film after previously producing, writing and directing the first two installments of Don, both of which featured the dynamic duo; Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra as the protagonists. But will Ranbir Kapoor be starring in the upcoming Don films? The rumor mill is working overtime.

In a classical Bollywood twist, various Indian publications report that Farhan might be looking for a new lead. Who could ever replace the big boss Shahrukh Khan? Well, if the rumours are to be trusted, Ranbir Kapoor might just be the chosen one to replace Shahrukh in Don 3.

Following the failure of Shahrukh Khan’s Zero, sources claim that the superstar wants to keep to himself for a small duration of time which may be why he has not announced any project as of late. However, reports suggest the Dilwale star is currently in talks with Rajkumar Hirani for his next hit. The film will be directed by Rajkumar and produced under the banner of Red Chillies.

Ironically, if this plays out, both Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoorwill be seen swapping their directors for their next Bollywood blockbuster. Ranbir has worked closely with Hirani in 2018 and they successfully released Sanju, which resulted in being one of the highest-grossers of the year. Having collected such a mega hit, Ranbir continues his hard work and is currently shooting for Brahmastra starring Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Akkineni Nagarjuna in lead roles. The film is produced by the fraternity leader, Karan Johar and directed by Ayan Mukerji. In contrast to the glitz and glam of Bollywood, rumor has it that Shah Rukh is in talks for his second season of his chat show Ted Talks which is all set to release super soon.
