Ramcharan Teja Backs Out of Film With Father
Ramcharan Teja has quit a film with his legendary father, opting for SS Rajamouli’s RRR instead
Thanks to the never-ending saga that is SS Rajamouli’s RRR, Ramcharan Teja has reluctantly backed out of his commitment to co-star with his father, the legendary Chiranjeevi in Koratala Siva’s Acharya. Incidentally, Koratala had specially written the role for Ramcharan. “When father Chiranjeevi and son Ramcharan would have come together on screen, the audience would have brought the house down. However that was not to be. Ramcharan is solely committed to RRR. Until that project is completed, he won’t work in any other film,” says a source very close to the development. Apparently, Rajamouli drove down to meet Chiranjeevi at his residence to apologize.
Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi has requested Mahesh Babu to step into his son’s role. And Mahesh Babu who is very close to Chiranjeevi and cannot say no any request from him, has agreed to step into Ramcharan’s role in Acharya. This is the first time that Mahesh Babu will be doing a guest appearance in his entire career. With Sarileru Neekevvaru doing extremely well, the actor is now looking at his next film. He was all set to work with his Maharshi director Vamshi Paidipally. But that project has been put on hold, for now. Analyzing the success of Sarileru Neekevvaru, Mahesh Babu says, “I think many factors worked in favour of Sarileru Neekevvaru. It is a film within the commercial format, and yet I’ve done the kind of comedy and action that the audience hasn’t seen me do in a very long time.”
Plus there is the song Mindblock. He chuckles, “Audiences were surprised to see me in a lungi. I haven’t been so informal on screen for a very long time. Viewers are coming back just to watch me and Rashmika (Mandanna) dance to Mindblock.” The star feels gratified with the success. “I am ecstatic, grateful, humbled. I am glad I did a role that is so close to the masses. They’ve felt a deep connect with my character. I will continue to occupy the commercial space. Within that space, I’ll try to do something different each time.”
As for working with Chiranjeevi says, “It is an honour to share screen space with such a legend who is also my senior and like a big brother.”
