Bollywood was shocked today when sexual harassment accusations against one of its most respected directors, Rajkumar Hirani, came to light. The allegations were made by a woman who was employed under him and it was said to have occurred more than once between March and September 2018, during the post-production of Sanju, the blockbuster Sanjay Dutt biopic that Hirani directed.
A detailed report in Huffington Post India shocked everyone though the rumours had been doing the rounds for the last few weeks. As a fallout of the allegations, Raj Kumar Hirani’s name had been removed as one of the co-producers of the forthcoming Ek Ladki Ko Dekha toh Aisa Laga. This is what he has said in the statement.
“I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to any committee or any legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false, malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation.”
Rajkumar Hirani has completely denied the allegations even to the portal that carried the story.
