Apparently, after giving Bollywood a shot and excelling as an actor in films like Aamir and Shaitan, Rajeev is now in talks to star in an interesting serial. It’s Srishti Arya’s new show, the details of which are being kept under wraps right now! Rumour has it the two have been in talks and she has offered him the role of a strongly opinionated man who will go to any lengths to fight for justice.
Rajeev has never been one to publicise himself or have anyone else do so either. By his own admission, “This is my wife’s (Manjiri Kamtiker) biggest grouse; she doesn’t like the fact that I don’t have a PR and that I can be moody. I can sometimes be totally consumed in my thoughts….” So unless he signs on the dotted line with Srishti, there can be no confirmation about his television comeback!
One wonders just why Khandelwal, once voted as television’s Sexiest Male, would want to keep all that talent to himself. Or why he would opt to return to television having tasted Bollywood. He once explained this as, “I had a challenging time after Aamir… I had signed another film which consumed a year of my time, but the film went wrong and was not released. During that time, I reached out to a commercially big director who signed me and kept me hanging for eight months but did not make the film. I decided that I would not reach out and instead would just work harder, so that my work could get me more work.”
Perhaps that explains the long gaps in Rajeev’s appearance on the big or small screen. Sad, considering he once had Ekta Kapoor on his side when she helped make him a known name with the serial Kahiin Toh Hoga.
