Radhika Apte Reveals Her Wedding Sari Had Holes In It

Radhika Apte opened up on her marriage to London-based musician Benedict Taylor, adding how she didn’t believe in marriage and the custom ritual the couple had at their wedding

Bollywood actor Radhika Apte has established herself as one of the most versatile and talented actors of the industry. With films like Parched, Badlapur, Padman, Lust Stories and Andhadhun, the actress has managed to make her mark in the industry. She’s also hailed as the queen of OTT platforms. While Radhika’s career seems to be on a roll, not many know much about her personal life. The starlet has been married to a London-based musician Benedict Taylor for the last six years. Now, in a recent interview with Femina, she revealed details of her wedding.

Speaking of her wedding dress, Radhika shared, “When I got married, I wore my grandmother’s old sari for my registered wedding and it had a lot of holes in it. But I wore it because she’s one of my favourite people on the planet. I’m not someone who spends a lot of money on fancy clothes and especially not for a registered marriage. Of course, I wanted to look good - I did buy a dress for my party - which was less than Rs10,000. Also, I bought that dress at the last minute because I forgot to buy one! I’m not a picky person when it comes to clothes.”

The actress also spoke about the wedding rituals and how the marriage didn’t feel important to her. Radhika concluded, “I feel commitment can happen without marriage. But for a lot of people, marriage is a very sacred thing and I see why; I see the celebration of unity, I see the value of taking vows, I do see how the event is celebrated and how much importance it holds to certain people. When I got married, my partner and I wanted a ritual but neither of us is religious so we gave our guests seeds and asked them to plant a tree with us.”
