Quentin Tarantino Confirms Series on Rick Dalton’s Show from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Quentin Tarantino shared that he has already written a few episodes for the show that he would like to direct in a few years
Good news for the fans of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Quentin Tarantino, the filmmaker has announced that he will be directing a series soon on Rick Halton, which was played by none other than Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oscar nominated film. In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Rick Dalton is part of a show called Bounty Law, and that is exactly what Tarantino will be direction, reported Deadline. And now only that, the filmmaker will also be writing the script for the show. As a matter of fact, he has.
Speaking to Deadline in a recent interview, Tarantino shared, “As far as the Bounty Law shows, I want to do that, but it will take me a year and a half. I ended up writing five half-hour episodes. So I’ll do them, and I will direct all of them. It got an introduction from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but I don’t really consider it part of that movie even though it is. This is not about Rick Dalton playing Jake Cahill. It’s about Jake Cahill. Where all this came from was, I ended up watching a bunch of Wanted, Dead or Alive, and The Rifleman, and Tales of Wells Fargo, these half-hour shows to get in the mindset of Bounty Law, the kind of show Rick was on.”
The filmmaker continued, “I’d liked them before, but I got really into them - the concept of telling a dramatic story in half an hour. You watch and think, wow, there’s a hell of lot of storytelling going on in 22 minutes. I thought, I wonder if I can do that?” Bounty Law follows Jake Cahill as he wonders the old west looking for bounties to collect and in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the show marks one of the high points in the career of Rick Dalton. As of now, no confirmation of Leo’s or Brad Pitt’s involvement have been made, but we’d obviously love for them to take on their roles in the spin off.
