Queen Elizabeth Breaks the Norm, Invites Non Royal to Christmas Festivities
Christmas is around the corner and Queen has extended her invites to the royal family. This year, however, the Queen has made an exception and invited a non-royal to Christmas
Christmas is around the corner and the festivities have commenced in the royal household. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed their Christmas card for 2019 and features baby Archie for the very first time. And now, it seems that Queen Elizabeth is starting to let her guard down as the holiday season is in full swing. Every year, members of the royal family, only who have been invited by the Queen, will gather in Sandringham, Norfolk to celebrate Christmas. As per tradition they will also walk to Church on the morning of December 25.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle however, have opted out of Christmas at Sandringham this year but there may be a new member joining the royal family. In what is considered to be a 'groundbreaking' invitation, the Queen has invited Princess Beatrice's fiance and property tycoon partner, Edoardo 'Edo' Mapelli Mozzi. According to a report, Edo has been granted permission by the Queen to spend Christmas Day with the Royal family. This marks the second time the Queen has allowed a non-royal to attend the event; the first being Meghan Markle in 2017.
The 93-year-old monarch usually extends the invite to family members, and their wives or husbands only. According to a leading daily, Edo will be accompanying the family to the morning church service as well. “Beatrice and Edo arrived last night. It's clear that Her Majesty wants to support her granddaughter, who is getting married at a very difficult time for her family. But everyone feels Beatrice deserves to be happy,” a source at Sandringham told the publication. Princess Beatrice and Edo announced their engagement this year in September. The couple, however, has not yet released their wedding date. Beatrice is the daughter of Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth's son, who has been embroiled in a sex scandal involving Jeffery Epstein.
