One of Bollywood's biggest superstars, Priyanka Chopra shocked fans all over the world last year when she announced that she was going to tie the knot with Hollywood's Nick Jonas. And while many were happy for the couple, some did seem to have an issue with their age gap. Ignoring what they thought, Priyanka and Nick got married late last year in a lavish wedding ceremony that broke the Internet. And for the first time ever since tying the knot, the actress, in an Instyle magazine interview, got candid about the 10-year age gap between her and her husband. Priyanka is 36 while Nick is 26 years of age.
Speaking of how the couple is treated, the Priyanka said, "People gave us hard time about our age gap and they still do. I find it really amazing when you flip it and the guy is older, no one cares and actually people like it."
But the age gap is not the only thing that Priyanka received slack for. Many even criticised her from over-sharing pictures of her grand wedding on social media. However, the Don star had a befitted response. She told, "If I wasn’t a famous person and I’d just got married, don’t you think my Insta would have photos of me and my husband?” Chopra said. “Just because I’m famous, don’t I have the ability to be proud of being a newlywed without people saying that I’m using my marriage? I gave up my right to privacy when I became a public person, it’s the deal you make with the devil. But trust me, there are lots of things I still keep personal."
The actress also spoke about her ultimate goal in her career and her life outside of it. "I want to change the world a little bit," Priyanka continued. "My big endgame is creating a formidable career and legacy for myself, but at the same time I want to have moved something." She explained that she and Nick really want to start a family together but only wish to do so when the time is right. She added, "I want my existence to have meant something. I want my kids to turn around and be like, 'Yeah, that was my mom.'"
In an earlier interview, the actress even discussed her and Nick's potential political ambitions. She had said, "I would love to run for Prime Minister of India. And I would love for Nick to run for president. I don’t like the things associated with politics, but I know that both of us really want to make a change. Never say never."
