Princess Diana lost her life at the age of 36 in a tragic car accident. The nineteen-year-old girl who was brought to limelight due to her marriage with the Crown Prince of England soon won many hearts because of her innocent beauty and love for people. She was frowned upon by the establishment she was married into but it did not hold her back from her philanthropic works. Diana wed Charles in a fairytale wedding but it was never easy for her. Soon after the couple got married Charles lost his interest in the beautiful bride and returned back to his mistress Camilla Parker Bowles.

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles met in 1971. However, the short affair could not culminate into a marriage. Charles joined the military while Camilla Parker got married. However, they could not stay away from each other for long. Diana was vocal about her cheating husband and his love interest. She often stayed depressed and underwent eating disorders.

According to Diana, her marriage broke down because of her husband’s then-mistress Camilla.

As Diana famously quoted

‘There were three of us in this marriage so it was a bit crowded.’

Charles’ affair was not hidden from the public. Diana did whatever she could to hold back her husband but in vain. The two ladies wanting to maintain their hold on one man had deep bitterness for each other. They called each other names in private. Diana called Camilla ‘Rottweiler’ in private for two reasons. One because she said Camilla resembled a dog and second because according to Diana, ‘If Camilla set her teeth in something she wouldn’t take those off.’ Camilla on the other hand also had no good thoughts for Diana. She referred to the Princess as ‘mouse’ and ‘mad cow.’ It is also claimed that Camilla even went to the length of decorating her country home toilet with unbecoming cartoons of Diana.
