Princess Beatrice of York, the second child of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, was born in the year 1988. Although her parents got divorced in the year 1996, they continued sharing the parenting of their two daughters. According to the younger sister Eugenie, her parents are the ‘best-divorced couple.’ Rumors also say that Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew are planning to remarry.
Unlike other children of the royal family, Beatrice’s name was not announced until two weeks of her birth. She was named Beatrice Elizabeth Mary. Her middle name was a tribute to her grandmother Queen Elizabeth while her last name was a tribute to Queen Mary. However, this name was not the first choice for her parents. Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew wanted to name their first born Annabel, But as all names of royal children need an approval from the Queen, this name was rejected right away as it was considered too ‘yuppie’ and ‘middle class.’ The reason might also have been Queen’s dislike for the famous nightclub ‘Annabel’ where Sarah and many other young royals liked to party. Hence her original name was Annabel and not Beatrice.
Today Beatrice and her sister Eugenie are known for their quirky fashion sense and love for vacationing. The two sisters were criticized for not having a regular job and only vacationing. Once Beatrice left her job as a junior producer in Sony and went out to vacation for almost eleven times in six months. Despite being a dyslexic in the past, Beatrice now holds a regular day job and is the patron of many charities. She is the Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy for Affinity at the moment. She and her sister Eugenie receive no allowance from Privy Purse which is Queen’s fund for the members of the Royal family.
