Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down as senior royals in January 2020, announcing that they would work towards becoming financially independent and divide their time between North America and Britain. According to Daily Mail UK, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer be allowed to use the name ‘Sussex Royal’ for their branding, ordered by the Queen as the term ‘royal’ in Sussex royal is no more tenable. Earlier, it was decided that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would still be the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex but they would not be allowed to use the titles HRH ‘His/Her Royal Highness.’
Their band Sussex Royal was big already
This decision from the Buckingham Palace has come as a major blow to the couple as they had already spent thousands of dollars on branding the logo and creating their own website (which went live last month). Their Instagram account Sussex Royal has 11.2 million followers at the time of writing. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were working on their own non-profit charitable organization Sussex Royal, The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Sussex Royal also has merchandise in its name although the purpose was never commercial but to protect the trademark from being used by the others.
When Archie first met the Queen
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down as senior royals, they certainly did not have this in mind.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married in May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Their decision to get married came after two years of romance. Meghan Markle was warmly welcomed by the members of the royal family and apparently seemed to be fitting into her new role and duties. However, according to the couple, the unnecessary media scrutiny created problems for the Duchess and she found hard to cope with it. Earlier, Prince Harry had also sued a British tabloid on the account of publishing ‘ out of the context news’ related to Meghan Markle. Soon after announcing to step down as senior royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle departed for Vancouver Canada with their toddler Archie.
