Action-thriller film Saaho is said to be Prabhas’ next magnum opus, after his highly successful Baahubali film series. Saaho, written and directed by Sujeeth, is being touted as the most expensive Indian film ever made. According to recent reports, the film’s production designer, Sabu Cyril -- who previously worked on the sets of Baahubali -- took two years and spent INR 65 crore to create a fictional city for Saaho, a visual replica of Abu Dhabi, the desert emirate. Cyril and Sujeeth selected a team of 300 artists, including visual effects artists and digital compositors, for this huge task.
Using the skyline of the UAE capital as a starting point, Cyril and the VFX team gave it a more futuristic look by including spiral-designed buildings and neo-futurist architectural structures. Cyril had the interiors built from scratch in Hyderabad. Special effects supervisor Danilo Bollettini, who has previously worked on Wonder Woman (2017) and Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015), also worked on this project. VFX supervisor Kamalakannan and his 20-member team were also specially roped in for the film.
A high-octane action thriller, Saaho will feature skyscrapers to unique action sequences, including helicopter stunts. It will be Shraddha Kapoor’s Tamil debut and she will be seen in the role of a cop for the very first time. The movie also has an ensemble star cast including Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mandira Bedi, Chunky Panday, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay and Murali Sharma, amongst others. International directors have shot some action scenes for the movie in Dubai and Italy. The film is being shot in three languages simultaneously: Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The movie’s teasers, trailers and posters have already been unveiled. Presented by T-Series and produced by UV Creations, Saaho is set to hit the theatres on 30th August 2019.
