Dubai-bred Shereen Saif’s practice spans dance, theatre, storytelling, voiceover and performance art. A trained Indian classical dancer, she is conversant in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam and Kathak and a LAMDA-certified acting professional. Her interest in applied arts and creative movement therapy led to her long association with UAE-based social enterprises Mawaheb, an art studio for adults with special needs, and Movement Mantra, working with those afflicted with Parkinson’s Disease. She has worked in local theatre productions, corporate films, shorts and performed widely at theatre, dance and storytelling festivals in the UAE, India, France and Italy.
IN HER OWN WORDS: “My art practice is deeply rooted in the Indian ethos. It seeks the sacred in the mundane and the mundane in the sacred. Gestures, symbolism and ritual form an integral part of my work.”
