Founder, thejamjar studio
Born and brought up in Dubai, Hetal Pawani, has been giving back to her adopted home with a range of arts and education initiatives involving artists, educators, schools, universities, corporate organisations, and the public. Hetal founded Thejamjar studio, a community arts space, in Al Quoz in 2005. The studio is equipped with easels, paints, art supplies, a coffee bar and music, so people can unwind and paint away their stress. Since 2007, Hetal started an art consultancy arm, now called 17A Art Consultants, run by her partner Lindsey Gildea, and also co-founded art gallery Grey Noise in Alserkal Avenue, now run by Pakistani artist Umer Butt.
