Bollywood actress Pooja Bhatt -- who will be returning to the silver screen with Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 -- has just announced on her official Instagram account that model and Afro pop singer Taali Mack will be her co-star in the upcoming film. “When a friend becomes a co-actor there is positive, restorative energy all around! What a joy @taali_m to have you debut with Sadak2,” Pooja wrote while sharing a photo with the London-based model, who has a Congolese, Chadian and Egyptian heritage.
Taali was born in Amiens, France, raised in Congo, Burkina-Faso and France, and has travelled extensively with her parents from an early age. She has done fashion shoots in several cities, including Paris, London, Brazzaville, Bilbao, New York, Delhi and Mumbai. Her official website -- www.model.taali-m.com -- describes her unique fashion sense: “Growing up, Taali was lulled by the colourful sights and unique rhythms of African metropolises. In the streets of Brazzaville and Ouagadougou she was introduced to the vibrant colours and styles which inspire her fashion sense to this day.
Taali ventured into music in 2009 as a songwriter and singer, blending different influences. Here pieces are a combination of late 80’s Pop Rock, Ska, Ragga with traditional chants and rhythms from Africa. She draws her inspiration from Black So Man, a politically conscious Burkinabe singer of the late 80’s, the Afrobeats pioneer Fela Kuti, socially responsible artists such as Curtis Mayfield, and American singers and lyricists such as Vera Hall, Nina Simone and Leonard Cohen. The 30-year old singer uses her music to share her thoughts and messages on love, hope, spirituality and a better world. She plays at shows and events, and her songs are available online. More details of her acting and Bollywood debut are yet to be revealed by the makers of Sadak 2.
