Looks like the Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi, a biopic on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi slated to release in the UAE today (April 4) has been deferred to next week.

According to reports in Indian media, the much-awaited movie has been delayed in India as well, releasing on April 12, which was its original release date.

In recent times, the biopic found itself in a number of controversies. There was a plea against its release citing the upcoming Indian elections and its possible impact on the masses. The 2019 Lok Sabha elections in India will begin in phases from April 11.

With the oppositions raising concerns and objections to the film release so close to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the movie has been pushed back its original release date, India today reported.

The film’s trailer was received badly and it gave rise to a meme-fest. The title role is played by Vivek Oberoi, a self-confessed Narendra Modi fan. But the actor was trolled majorly for his looks and performance in the trailer.

Will the film match up to the hype? Will it resurrect Vivek Oberoi’s career remains to be seen.
