Hollywood star Pierce Brosnan will always be remembered as one of the most iconic James Bond to ever exist. Even the actor considers the career milestone as his biggest achievement till date. However, he feels that it is about time that the role of Bond should be passed on to a woman. Even Lashana Lynch was rumoured to take over as the next 007 from Daniel Craig in the upcoming installment of No Time to Die. Speaking of the possibility of having a woman play the role, Brosnan said, "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. So get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there."
Brosnan feels that it will be exhilarating and exciting to see a woman play the spy on screen. However, he also shared that the current set of producers will not let it play out that way. The actor also shared that character has to change with time, and if a woman is playing that role, they would have to address the #MeToo movement as well. Brosnan stated, "The #MeToo movement has been relevant and significant and well needed in our society, so the makers will have to address that."
Brosnan only starred in four James Bond films, but he still considers them to be the highlight of his career. “James Bond has a certain significance and a deep pride. I will be asked about him until my dying days – it just goes with the territory. He is a beloved character. I was honoured to play the role and I feel like I rejuvenated a franchise that had been dormant,” shared the legendary star. Brosnan will be next seen in a Netflix comedy opposite Will Farrell and Rachel McAdams, in which he will be playing the former's father.
