Anees Bazmee’s multistarrer action comedy film Pagalpanti witnessed a significant drop in earnings after its opening weekend. The film, which was released on 22nd November, collected INR 5 crore on Friday, INR 6.5 crore on Saturday and INR 8.25 crore on Sunday. However, collections dropped drastically after the weekend, by 50 percent, with the film earning around 2.5 crore on Monday, bringing the total earnings to approximately INR 22 crore, as per a report by Box Office India. Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel wrote on Twitter, “#Pagalpanti Monday collection heading towards ₹ 2.5-3 cr nett. It’s done & dusted now.”

Pagalpanti -- which stars John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Ileana D'Cruz, Urvashi Rautela and Kriti Kharbanda in lead roles -- clashed at the box office with Disney’s popular animated film Frozen 2, which has got the cash registers ringing. It is also facing tough competition from Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest blockbuster Bala, which continues to perform well at the ticket windows. Film trade analysts do not expect Pagalpanti’s performance to improve during the week and it may be declared a box office failure.
The story of three ‘losers’ and their plans to get rich, Pagalpanti was recently leaked online by film piracy website Tamilrockers and has also received several unfabourable reviews, which may have affected its box office performance. A review in the Economic Times read, “Whatever the film lacks in quality, it fills it in with quantity. The film throws everything it has at you — unnecessary songs, slapstick humour, car chases and high-octane destruction scenes in beautiful locales.” The film has received only 1.5 stars from more than 300 votes on movie reviews and ratings’ website IMDB. With several other highly-anticipated movies coming up in December, Pagalpanti is not expected to attract many people to the theatres.
