Oops, this comes as a huge shock. Much has been written about Priyanka Chopra walking out of Salman Khan's Bharat for her impending engagement to Nick Jonas. This was triggered by a tweet by director Ali Abbas Zafar who hinted that PC had exited the movie for a 'special reason' in the 'nick' of time. It was enough to send the media into a tizzy.
However, while there were no confirmations from Priyanka's side about the engagement, came the news that she had signed a huge Hollywood film Cowboy Ninja Viking with none other than Chris Pratt. It was then that speculations arose that Priyanka had walked out of Bharat not because of her impending engagement but because of her big Hollywood break, a fact that was confirmed subtly by Salman Khan during an event to promote his production Loveratri.
As it turns out, Salman may be having the last laugh.
Priyanka's Hollywood project has hit a roadblock. According to a report in Collider, Universal Studios has pulled the film from its release calendar and the production has been delayed indefinitely. However, the film--starring Chris Pratt in the lead--is still in ‘active development’ says a report in Hindustan Times.
Initially, Cowboy Ninja Viking was to release on June 28, 2019. According to Variety, the project is now said to be in “active development”. This, in film production parlance, could mean one of two things: that the script is not ready as yet, or that the budget allotted for the film has been found to be incommensurate with the film’s boxoffice potential.
Either way it is very bad news for Priyanka Chopra. By saying no to ‘Bharat’ for Hollywood she effectually let the world know her priorities. Now, the question is, how will it affect her standing in Bollywood where a lot of personal equations are at stake?
