Genelia D'Souza's first screen appearance was opposite Amitabh Bachchan in a commercial for Parker pens.
After a lukewarm Bollywood debut in 2003 with "Tujhe Meri Kasam", she worked in several successful South Indian films and won the Filmfare best actress award in 2006 for the Telegu film "Bomarillu".
Her performances in "Masti" and "Mere Baap Pehle Aap" were well received, but the bubbly young actress from Mumbai finally won recognition in Bollywood after the success of "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na". The film, released in 2008, was produced by Aamir Khan and marked the debut of his nephew Imran Khan.
Interestingly, Genelia has starred in the Tamil version of "Bomarillu" as well as the Hindi remake by Anees Bazmi, titled "It's My Life".
