The upcoming comdey Bangistan starring Riteish Deshmukh, Pulkit Samrat and Jacqueline Fernandez has been banned from releasing within the UAE as per a report in gulfnews.com.
Apparently, the film's distributor Ramesh Jashnani, of Al Nisr Cinema Film, said Bangistan was found to be “hurting Muslim sentiments”.
Directed by Karan Anshuman, the film is a comedy about two blundering terrorists on a mission to change the world. Suicide bombers Hafeez Bin Ali/Ishwarchand Sharma (Deshmukh) and Allah Rakha Khan/Praveen Chaturvedi (Samrat) are sent on an explosive mission but realise that it’s foolish to die and kill other people.
The film which was due for release in the UAE on July 30, was also banned by Pakistan last month. Co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani then approached the Pakistan High Commission to clarify that the film was not “anti-Pakistan” but merely a comedy and not to judge the film by the trailer alone. In response to the ban, the film's lead star Riteish Deshmukh has also issued the following statement," It is very disappointing that the Censor board finds the film offensive, as there is no such content in the film. We shall be sending it to the re-examining committee.’
