When the award-winning signature Indian restaurant at Grand Hyatt launches a new brunch, you can be rest assured that it will be different from the rest. The quirkily-titled iZFINITY brunch is an interesting mix of select, richly flavoured North Indian dishes, chosen from the iZ menu, presented with a modern touch. The open kitchen with the tandoor, the large raised tables and well-lit interiors gives the venue a very chic look but it’s the DJ spinning the latest Bollywood tunes that adds to the fun ambiance.
After being welcomed with a fresh cocktail of Johnnie Walker with ginger ale and lime, we were introduced to the menu. There were both, veg and non-veg options but the meat and seafood sounded more exciting than the greens to me. I had no hesitation in choosing the salmon tikka and my hunch proved right – the perfectly grilled salmon tasted great, infused with the essence of coriander and garlic. While I am not a huge fan of prawns cooked the tandoori way, the smoked flavor with a hint of ginger, garlic and lemon made the tandoori jhinga quite delicious.
The main course items that followed were interesting. I loved the robust gosht rogan josh though I felt the prawn masala was a bit spicy for my palate. However, accompanying the curries was the famous dal tadka which made the meal truly complete. There were other must-try Indian delicacies – murgh makhani, kadhai subzi, palak paneer etc – but we were already stuffed. (Well, Indian food often does that to you, doesn’t it?!) But I couldn’t leave without the dessert and the rasmalai just sounded like the perfect end for a hearty meal.
With a stylish setting, great music and an array of authentic, delectable desi dishes, iZ, is a great addition to your Friday brunch list.
