Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited Sooryavanshi to release in cinemas on November 5

The film will also feature a 30-minute cameo by Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh

Akshay Kumar has shot a number of films during the lockdown, but before the pandemic took over the world, he had wrapped up filming for Sooryavanshi. The film was supposed to release in 2020, but due to the closure of cinema halls amid the COVID-situation getting worse, it was pushed to a later date. Fans had been eagerly waiting for it to release on an OTT platform, but filmmaker Rohit Shetty knew that the film would be best suited for the theatres. Now, the wait is finally nearing its end as fans of Akshay Kumar will finally get to see Sooryavanshi very soon.

Taking to social media, Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar announced that Sooryavanshi is all set to release in cinemas across India on Diwali. Rohit Shetty, sharing a photo with Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray wrote that with cinemas opening on October 22, he was all set to release his upcoming directorial.

Akshay Kumar too took to his Instagram to share a photo of himself along with Rohit and the other actors of the latter’s cop universe – Ajay Devgn from Singham and Ranveer Singh from Singham. He wrote: “So many families would be thanking Sh Uddhav Thackeray today! Grateful for allowing the reopening of cinema halls in Maharashtra from October 22. Ab kisi ke roke na rukegi – AA RAHI HAI POLICE.”

Apart from Akshay Kumar, Sooryavanshi also stars Katrina Kaif as the female lead. The film will also feature cameos by Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn, who play cops in Rohit Shetty’s other films, Simmba and Singham. In Sooryavanshi, Akshay Kumar plays a cop named DCP Veer Sooryavanshi who is also the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad. The film sees his team join forces with others to stop a terrorist group planning to attack Mumbai.
