Neena Gupta took to Instagram yesterday to find an old friend and co-star. Posting a throwback picture with actor Nikhil Bhagat, she wrote, “Throwback Me and Nikhil in Trikal. Where are you Nikhil, what do you look like now?” The two starred in 1985 film Trikal (Past, Present, Future), written and directed by Shyam Benegal. The film, which won two National Awards, was set in Goa in the late 1960s, when the state was a Portuguese colony. Trikal featured Neena as a domestic helper Milagrenia and Nikhil as young Ruiz Pereira, the narrator (with the older character played by Naseeruddin Shah). Neena’s Badhaai Ho co-star Ayushmann Khurrana responded to her post with a heart emoji. Meanwhile, fans told her that Nikhil had recently starred in Imtiaz Ali’s 2015 film Tamasha, playing the role of Deepika Padukone’s father.

Another fan asked Neena to click a new picture with Nikhil. People also praised the 1985 film, calling it ‘outstanding’ and ‘brilliant’, and saying they missed Nikhil in the world of art.

Neena is currently busy shooting for Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, in which she is sharing screen space again with her Badhaai Ho co-star Gajraj Rao. The actress has been updating fans on Instagram by sharing pictures of the making. She recently uploaded a photograph where she can been seen sitting next to Gajraj on a park bench, smiling and going through the script. She wrote, “Rehearsing in the day @gajrajrao #shubhmangalzyadasaavdhan.” Neena’s film The Last Color was recently honoured at Indian International Film Festival of Boston, receiving the prize for Best Feature Film. Marking the directorial debut of Indian-American chef Vikas Khanna, the film is based on his book of the same name, which addresses age old taboos surrounding widows in India. It will be screened at the Jio MAMI 21st Mumbai Film Festival on 18th October 2019.
