Nawazuddin Siddiqui Receives Golden Dragon Award for Excellence in Cinema
Nawazuddin Siddiqui was honoured with the Golden Dragon at the Cardiff International Film Festival for his contributions to the world of cinema.
Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who made his Bollywood debut in 1999 and has won several accolades over the years, received the prestigious Golden Dragon Award at the Cardiff International Film Festival taking place in Wales. The award, presented by counsel general of Wales, UK, Mick Antoniw, recognised Nawazuddin’s contributions to excellence in cinema on a global platform. The event also honoured Hollywood star Dame Judi Dench with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Nawazuddin took to his social media to share the news of his big win. He wrote, “Congratulations #DameJudiDench on receiving the Lifetime Achievement award, Thank You Mr. @MickAntoniw1 the Counsel General of Wales, UK & Cardiff International Film Festival for bestowing me with the prestigious Golden Dragon Award.”
Nawazuddin -- who was also part of the festival’s official jury along with Indian television actor Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya among others -- has received international recognition with his critically acclaimed roles in Netflix’s Sacred Games, Ritesh Batra’s Photograph and BBC UK’s McMafia (which marked his debut in foreign television). In a period of five years, eight of the actor’s films have been selected for screening at the Cannes Film Festival.
Nawazuddin -- who played the role of Mumbai gangster Ganesh Gaitonde in Sacred Games -- will next be seen in the wedding comedy Motichoor Chaknachoor. Slated to release on 15th November 2019, the film has been directed by Debamitra Biswal and co-stars Athiya Shetty, Vibha Chibber, Navni Parihar, Vivek Mishra, Karuna Pandey, Sanjeev Vats, Abhishek Rawat, Sapna Sand and Usha Nagar. It follows the story of a 36-year old man trying to find a wife. Meanwhile, Nawazuddin has also recently completed filming for romantic film Bole Chudiyan, helmed by his brother Shamas Nawab Siddiqui. The actor has a total of eight projects lined up, including Raat Akeli Hai and No Man’s Land.
