The house help of yesteryears star Moushumi Chatterjee has been arrested. The police has revealed that Sunita (42) had decamped with Chatterjee's gold jewels and was nabbed as she was on her way to sell them.
Earlier Moushumi had lodged an FIR stating that she had been robbed off her jewels by unknown robbers. As soon as the Khar police station in Mumbai got the complaint, they swung into action and started questioning all her staff.
"The police team nabbed her as she was on her way to sell the jewellery. The team found a few gold bangles in her possession which would cost around Rs 2 lakhs. On questioning, she confessed that she had stolen them from Moushumi Chatterjee's house. The stolen jewellery was recovered from her possession," said a police officer.
According to the police report, the accused has been forwarded to the court for police remand as the police would like to know more about the incident. The actress has expressed as satisfaction over the police investigation.
Moushmi, who was last seen in Piku, was earlier in the news over her spat with her ailing daughter.
