Mission Mangal Box Office Collection Day 7: Akshay Kumar's Film Reaches For the Stars With Phenomenal Run

Mission Mangal raked in a whopping INR7 crore on Wednesday, increasing the figure to a cumulative of INR121.39 crore. According to reports, the film will have an extended week well above INR125 crore at the box office.

Starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in the lead, Mission Mangal hit theatres on Indian Independence Day. Since its release on August 15, the Jagan Shakti-helmed project has been breaking records at the Indian box office. The film witnessed a remarkable opening (INR 29.16 crore), with similar success over the long weekend that followed right after. After becoming Akshay's biggest-ever opener, it become the actor’s fastest film to enter the coveted INR100-crore club on Monday. The film hit this milestone within just five days of its release. According to Indian trade analyst Taran Adarsh, if the film continues its phenomenal run at the box office, it will cross the lifetime business of Akshay's last release Kesari next week.

On Tuesday, the film maintained a steady run collecting INR7.92 crore and taking the total business to INR114.39 crore. Mission Mangal raked in a whopping INR7 crore on Wednesday, increasing the figure to a cumulative of INR121.39 crore. According to reports, the film will have an extended week well above INR125 crore at the box office.

The film also features Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen as female scientists. Incidentally, Nikkhil Advani's Batla House, starring John Abraham, also hit the theatres on the same day but the former has raced ahead. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast is thrilled with the success of Mission Mangal. Sonakshi took to Twitter to write, "Mission Mangal has entered the 100cr club, and Chandrayaan 2 has entered the lunar orbit... DUNIYA SE BOLO COPY THAAAAAT!!!!!"

Earlier, at the trailer launch of Mission Mangal, Akshay had said that it was one of the best films in his career spanning almost three decades. "Mujhe nahi pata hai yeh film hit hogi ya nahi hogi. Lekin itna zaroor jaanta hoon ki we will always be proud of this film. And I'm very, very, very proud of it. Main kareeban 150 filmein kar chuka hoon and but this is one of the best films I have done. (I don’t know whether this film will be a hit or not. But what I do know is that in the 150 films of my career, this is one of the best films I have ever done)," he stated.
