Suman Rao was crowned Miss India 2019 in a star-studded grand finale in Mumbai and is all set to represent India in Miss World 2019 that is going to take place in Pattaya, Bangkok in December this year. The 20-year-old made it through a total of 30 other contestants from different states to bag the coveted title. But who is this gorgeous, dusky beauty; and what do we really know about her?
Born on November 23, 1998, the 20-year-old beauty hails from Udaipur, Rajasthan and brought up in Mumbai. She is currently pursuing a Charted Accountancy course from New Delhi. Alongside modelling, which is her greatest passion, Suman Rao enjoys dancing and is a trained Khatak dancer. She has time and again declared her passion for dance.
Suman feels strongly about gender inequality and stereotypes which exist in our society. Referring to the community from which she comes from, she said “I come from a community where gender inequality and other stereotypes are still into existence, so when I saw two primary choices in front of me, to either accept the conditions those were in existence or to take the responsibility for changing the same, I chose the latter one."
During the Miss India 2019 pageant, she also won the Miss Rampwalk Award. Suman is the 56th Miss India and was crowned by her predecessor, Anukreethy Vas.
After her much deserved win, she shared a few words, saying, "When you get yourself determined towards a particular goal in life, every single nerve and fibre of your body starts working into that direction for a victorious journey.’'
Femina Miss India is India’s oldest beauty pageant that annually organises the contest and selects representatives to compete in Miss World.
