Mehwish Hayat in Chhalawa

Mehwish Hayat and Azfar Rehman’s Chhalawa’s trailer is meeting with mixed reactions on the internet. The trailer sees Mehwish’s character, Zoya, as a rebel without a cause. Her love interest, Sameer, played by Azfar Rehman, has come to live with her in her house to woo her. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge meets Punjab Nahin Jaungi? Maybe. The Internet had similar thoughts.

Wajahat Rauf had previously directed Karachi Se Lahore and Lahore Se Aagey, which were considered modest box office hits.

One user said about the trailer, “A very nice organically cut trailer this coming Eid. Perfect editing, decent dialogues and marvellous background score. It was more of the same as the teaser.”

“Trailer launch of #Chhalawa. Some glimpses with celebs and best buddies,” said another.

Another user said how Chhalawa’s trailer was a rehash of Punjab Nahin Jaungi. “Chhalawa’s trailer reminded me of Punjab Nahi Jaoungi,” they posted. “Mehmood Aslam reminds me of Sohail Ahmad, Azfar reminds me of Humayoun, Mehwish, well she reminds me of Mehwish and Zara reminds me of Saima Chaudhry of Baraat series. The title track is the only good thing. Thank you, next.”

“Dubbing the movie has killed the actual voices of the actors. Zara has tried too hard to sound like Bushra Ansari or even Saima Chaudhry and ngl she did well but no, your khala is perfect at that. Shouldn’t have stolen it from her. Wajahat Rauf didn’t make anything new.”

Azfar Rehman shared the trailer on his Instagram.

The trailer was launched at an event yesterday. Producers Shazia Wajahat and director Wajahat Rauf, the husband wife duo have also launched their son, Aashir Wajahat, in the film as well.
