Azfar Rehman is a very familiar name in the Pakistani film industry. The actor will be starring in Wajahat Rauf's next called Chhalawa, with Mehwish Hayat, which is set to hit screens across the world on Eidul Fitr. While talking to famed journalist Haroon Rashid of BBC Asian Network, Rehman discussed how he decides to choose the roles that he does. He also spoke about transitioning from TV to now making it big on the silver screen.

Rehman stated that his character in Chhalawa is about a boy who works at an advertising agency. He added. " He has a great life and he is in love with a girl. He is a generally happy-go-lucky person but now in the aftermath of a few events, there are some complications and now he has to win back his love. How he manages to do just that is what the film’s about."

Speaking of transitioning into films coming from a TV background, Rehman stated, "I was scared. It’s a big, big responsibility when you’re doing a film as a main lead. A lot of criticism is to follow and a huge number of people keep asking me and Mehwish Hayat, ‘What have you done?'"

While the actor has starred numerous dramas in the past, Chhalawa will mark his debut in the film industry as the main lead. Earlier, he was seen portraying supporting roles or making guest appearances in movies such as Punjab Nahi Jaungi alongside Hayat as well.

Touching up on the matter of being cast with one of Pakistan's biggest film stars, Hayat, Rehman shared, "Wajahat Rauf saw Punjab Nahi Jaungi - which was directed by Nadeem Biag - and thought Mehwish and I had a great chemistry on screen. And I feel that's because we are friends in real life as well. In the beginning, I was not too keen about taking up the project, but after two or three more meetings with him,  paying more attention to the storyline and listening to the music, I agreed and said, 'Let’s do it.'"

Later, audiences saw Rehman in a web series produced by the Rauf, which aired on Eros Entertainment on YouTube. He was cast opposite Hayat in the web series as well, along with Asad Siddiqui, who will also be seen playing a supporting role in Chhalawa.

Talking about future aspirations, Rehman revealed that he wants to do some international work that potentially introduces him to new, different languages as he feels that such things challenge him as an actor. Keeping that in mind, Rehman is also very aware about the pressure he feels from the Pakistani fan community. While having a lot of dreams about his career and future projects, the actor concluded, "I’m a Muslim, Pakistani actor and I have to keep that in mind. I cannot be endorsing an idea in which I do not believe in and I have to stay true to my identity."
