She was the guest-editor for Vogue’s September edition
She guest-edited the September issue of Vogue with fifteen women as changemakers" and "trailblazers’ in today’s society. Unlike the other royals, Meghan Markle chose not to come on the title herself. She did this assignment with the prolific photographer Peter Lindbergh. It was also Peter’s last published work before he died at the age of 74.
The new feather in Meghan Markle’s cap is her capsule collection for workwear
According to the Sussex official Instagram account,
‘As a result, launching this autumn, The Duchess will be supporting a collective to help equip the women of Smart Works with the key workwear essentials they need as they enter into the workplace. This initiative is supported by four generous brands who share the vision to empower the women of Smart Works to look and feel as they bravely venture in to what can often be a daunting environment for those who have been out of the job market.’
Meghan Markle has now announced to collaborate with Marks n Spencer, the famous British fashion store, to launch a capsule collection for workwear. For this assignment, Meghan Markle has collaborated with John Lewis, Jigsaw, and Misha Nonoo. For every item purchased, one item will be donated. This will support Smart Works a charity that works towards bringing the unemployed and vulnerable women in the workforce. Meghan Markle is the patron for Smart Works and paid a visit while she was pregnant with Archie. During her visit, she helped the women pick outfits for their job interviews.
Meghan Markle was vocal about social causes and human rights since childhood
Meghan had started activism since the age of eleven when she wrote a letter to famous political figures Hillary Clinton, newscaster Linda Ellerbee, and lawyer against a washing soap advertisement which said, ‘Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.’ She found it sexist and derogatory as it stereotyped women. She believed that it is not good for children to grow up thinking that only moms do housework. Due to little Meghan’s efforts, the advertisement was altered.
After becoming a famous actress, Meghan Markle served as an advocate for UN Women and an ambassador for World Vision Canada. Meghan Markle had also been vocal about gender disparity and racism in Hollywood. Since her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle is not allowed to go for activism as per the royal protocol.
