Akshay Kumar has a very disciplined lifestyle, all hail to his immense fascination with martial arts that he started learning at a very young age. He had started practicing karate when he was in the eighth grade. In 2009 he was awarded the Japanese honor of "Katana" which is recognized as one of the country's highest honour. Having learned Taekwondo and Muay Thai at length, the actor often practices his kicking and punching skills at the gym.
Not only that but he has also earned a sixth-degree black belt in Goju-Ryu karate also known as the hard-soft technique. According to the OG Khiladi Of Bollywood, “martial arts is one of the few things that combines mental and physical health and he loves this form of fitness to keep up his energy and vitality. He says that martial arts help combat stress too”.
The actor loves mixing various forms of workout including swimming,jogging, parkour, Hoola hooping with wooden beads, playing sports,cycling, swimming with weights, working out with a mudgar. According to Akshay Kumar, “mixing up your fitness routine is very important so that you don't get bored. Yoga and martial arts are very important for marrying internal balance with physical fitness”. In short, it does seem quite impressive that he finds time to pursue his passion for martial arts.
