She joins the ranks of fellow ambassadors, celebrities Lily-Rose Depp, Kristen Stewart and Keira Knightley.
Margot has previously represented Calvin Klein’s Deep Euphoria scent in 2016. The 28-year old Australian actress, who is known for her roles in Wolf of Wall Street and Suicide Squad, was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2017. Forbes also featured her on its 30 Under 30 list.
Margot has been Chanel’s Fashion Ambassador since 2018 and was the face of Chanel’s Coco Neige collection campaign. She is said to have been an inspiration for Karl Lagerfeld, the brand’s late creative director. After Karl’s death, the actress posted a tribute to him on her Instagram page:
"A heavy heart today over the loss of a true icon. Karl’s creativity, energy and tireless spirit knew no bounds. It was an honor to work with him and to watch him work. I will forever cherish those memories. My thoughts are with his family, friends and our Chanel family.”
Taking her role as a Chanel ambassador very seriously, Margot often wears the brand at red carpet events and for other public appearances, which includes her recent Cannes 2019 appearances, where she wore an off-the-shoulder Chanel frock and also sported a monochrome, sequinned babydoll look.
Chanel has not yet revealed which scents Margot will be representing. In a statement about her new role at Chanel, the actress said, “It’s a dream to represent such a timeless and iconic brand. The history of the Chanel woman is so exciting and the brand has remained such a powerful feminine standard of style.”
Margot will next be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, alongside Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. Through her various roles, she aims to tell the stories of strong women, which is one of the reasons why Chanel has chosen her as its ambassador.
