Malaika Arora is Sad: MasterChef Australia Judges Bid Farewell to Show After 11 Years

Malaika Arora is sad because MasterChef Australia judges Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris have quit the show after 11 seasons. Malaika Arora posted her disappointment in her Instagram story

Bollywood diva Malaika Arora isn't happy today. The reason is that her favorite show, Masterchef, is coming to an end. The Judges of MasterChef Australia, Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris bid farewell to the reality TV cookery show and will not be returning in the next season, according to a foreign media outlet. The news pertaining to their exit was shared on the official twitter handle of MasterChef Australia. “After 11 sensational seasons, we bid a fond farewell to our judges -- Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris. Thank you for being a part of this remarkable #MasterChef legacy and helping make the culinary dreams of everyday home cooks come true,” read the tweet.

Media reports surfacing online revealed that all the judges decided to quit after Calombaris came under fire for underpaying $7.8 million to his staff at his hospitality firm, “Made Establishment”. It is pertinent to note that Calombaris was also dropped from an Australian tourism campaign. Sources familiar with the matter said the trio decided to quit the show after Network 10 refused a significant pay raise to them but this conjecture was denied by the judges.

“To explain: ‘It was time to move on, have more free time to explore our own creativity’. It was never about the money and never will be about the money. We couldn’t agree on the term of the new contract for 2020 and season 12. (This is) Something we felt very strongly about. The opportunity to work with Matt and George has been a blessing and something I cherish. Working together will continue to be the most important thing for us... the three musketeers,” Mehigan captioned his post on Instagram.
