Even if he is not directing his production Malaal, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s stamp is evident in it, especially in the care taken with production values, and with the projection of the actors. Apparently Bhansali, the perfectionist that he is, wanted to make sure that the two newcomers in his production Malaal were completely ready to face the camera before they were directed by Mahesh Hadawale.
Says a source very close to the project, “When Meezan Jaffrey (son of Jaaved Jaaferi) and Sharmin Segal were signed for Malaal they were treated with the same care as Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor in Saawariya. It didn’t matter to SLB that Sharmin was his niece. Both Meezan and Sharmin got the full and equal ‘SLB’ attention before Hadewale took charge as director”
Says Sanjay Bhansali, “I wouldn’t have cast Meezan or Sharmin if I didn’t see the spark, that ‘IT’ factor in them. They are both immensely talented. That’s why they are in Malaal.” I know for a fact that both Meezan and Sharmin are already being approached by major studios. Neither is in a hurry to sign another film. They know being a Bhansali product means doors would open once the world sees their debut film.
