Mahesh Babu’s Next Film Stalled. Here’s Why
Mahesh Babu’s new film with Vamshi Paidapally is going for a major revamp and this is what we know about it
After the stupendous success of his Makar Sankranti release, Sarileru Neekevvaru, Mahesh Babu was all set to join hands with his Maharshi director, Vamshi Paidipally for a full-on action film where the superstar was to be cast as a gangster. In Maharshi, a film which had political overtones, the actor once again played a larger than life role. The new film was to begin shooting in a month. But now the project has been postponed indefinitely. A source very close to the development informs, “Mahesh babu and Vamshi Paidipally share a very comfortable relationship ever since they worked together in Maharshi. They have no inhibitions regarding each other’s creative requirements. When Mahesh Babu felt that the script for their proposed new film was not up to the mark, he very frankly told Vamshi so. They both agreed the script needed to go back for extensive re-writing.”
Vamshi Paidipally teams with Mahesh Babu
Sources say, Vamshi is likely to scrap the current script and write a completely new one. “It is better to start from scratch than plunge into a project half-heartedly. Mahesh Babu and Vamshi will team up at a later time. Mahesh Babu will now do another project first. Hopefully by then, Vamshi will have his script ready,” says the source.
Mahesh Babu, the undisputed superstar of Telugu cinema, need not worry about a slight delay in his schedules as his films have a great audience that supports him. His Sarileru…, action comedy film, was a massive blockbuster and the actor even took a much-deserved break after that. The film also marked the comeback of Vijayshanti in a prominent role though Rashmika Mandana who was seen in hits like Dear Comrade with Vijay Deverakonda was the heroine. In the film, the actor played the role of an army officer.
